Learn about different fielding positions on a cricket ground
Here are some common terms related to fielding positions:

On Side (or Leg Side):Â
- Fine Leg: The region behind the batsman's leg on the leg side and near the boundary.
- Square Leg: A position square to the batsman's leg on the leg side.
- Mid-wicket: The area between square leg and mid-on, usually on the leg side.
- Third Man: Near the boundary on the off side, behind the batsman.
- Cover: The region between point and mid-off on the off side.
- Extra Cover: Between cover and mid-off, a bit towards the bowler
- Mid-off: A fielding position between the bowler and extra cover on the off side.
- Point: A position square to the batsman's off side, usually between cover and gully.
- Mid-on: The region between mid-wicket and mid-off on the on side.
- Long On: A fielding position near the boundary, straight down the ground from the batsman.
- Long Off: Similar to long on, but on the off side.
- Deep Mid-wicket: Towards the boundary on the on side.
- Deep Square Leg: A position on the boundary, square to the batsman's leg.
- Deep Cover: A fielder positioned on the boundary behind the cover region.
- Backward Point: A fielder behind point on the off side.
- Slip: Fielders placed behind the batsman on the off side to catch edges.
- Gully: Similar to slip but more square, between slip and point.
- Short Leg: A fielder close to the batsman on the leg side, usually for catching off the bat or pad.
